HST 13% applies to the whole contract — labour and materials alike. There is no separate provincial line and no exemption for labour.
Rebates checked 2026-09-25 — none pays for ducts
- Canada Greener Homes Grant (Natural Resources Canada) — closed. The page reads "Status: This program is closed".
- Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program (Natural Resources Canada) — open. No-cost retrofits such as insulation and heat pumps for low- and median-income households, delivered by participating provinces. No ductwork line; not delivered in Ontario.
- Home Renovation Savings (Save on Energy (IESO) with Enbridge Gas) — open. Heat pumps (cold-climate air source up to C$7,500), insulation and air sealing (up to C$250). Ducts are not on the list.
Heat pump rebates pay for the equipment, not the ducts it may need. Pricing the heat pump or furnace is the job of the Canadian furnace replacement cost calculator.
Where the band comes from — and who disagrees
By home size, Can Do Duct Cleaning's table (headed 2024–2025; page modified 2026-09-23). × 1.0426 damped Job Bank wage multiplier.
The multiplier (+4.3%) is Job Bank's renovation-trade wage basket here against the publisher's own market, damped by a 60% labour share because no labour split is published. The replacement table is headed 2024–2025 on a page modified 2026-09-23; it is the only Canadian size-tiered duct price read.
A wage differential is not a local price. The labour differential is a Job Bank WAGE ratio, not a local price, and Canada's wage data and Canada's renovation price guides disagree about two major metros. Job Bank puts Montréal's renovation-trade wages 15% above the national median and Vancouver's 3% below it, while Canadian renovation price guides place Montréal below the national average and Vancouver 25% to 40% above it. So in Montréal this calculator's figure is pushed up and in Vancouver down — the opposite of what those guides report — and no provincial or city price level is modelled at all: only the sales tax and this wage ratio change with the address. The wage basket is Job Bank's five-trade renovation composite — Carpenters (NOC 72310), Electricians (except industrial and power system) (NOC 72200), Plumbers (NOC 72300), Painters and decorators (except interior decorators) (NOC 73112), Construction trades helpers and labourers (NOC 75110). It does NOT include roofers, sheet-metal workers or HVAC technicians, so for eavestrough and furnace-humidifier work the differential is a proxy for the installer's labour, not a measurement of it.

What this calculator will not add
Not priced: a per-run or per-register figure (no Canadian source read publishes one), manual mastic sealing (no published Canadian price found), drywall repair after new ducts are run through a finished house, the furnace, air conditioner or heat pump itself, and any rebate — no government programme read on 2026-09-25 pays for ductwork.
Every figure is in Canadian dollars. The headline is before tax; the tax line follows the province the house is in, from government sources, and the wage is Job Bank's. Prices are dated Canadian commercial market sources. Estimate only; get written quotes.

Rebates for ducts: what we checked on 2026-09-25
No federal or provincial programme read pays for installing, replacing or sealing ducts, so the calculator shows no rebate. Heat pump rebates pay for the equipment the ducts serve.

A worked example: replacing the ducts in a 2,000 sq ft house in the City of Toronto
A full replacement in the 1,501–2,500 sq ft tier is C$6,500 to C$10,000. Job Bank's Toronto renovation-trade wages run 7.1% above the national median; on a 60% labour share that is ×1.0426, so C$6,776.84 to C$10,425.90 before tax. With Ontario's 13% HST, C$7,657.83 to C$11,781.27. At 1,500 sq ft the house would drop into the smaller tier — the price steps, because the publisher prints tiers, not a slope.
Not priced.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to replace ductwork in Canada?
A Canadian duct contractor's size table puts full ductwork replacement at C$4,500 to C$7,500 for a 1,000 to 1,500 sq ft home, C$6,500 to C$10,000 for 1,501 to 2,500 sq ft and C$9,000 to C$14,000 for 2,501 to 3,500 sq ft, before GST, HST or PST. AskHVAC.ca prints C$4,000 to C$8,000 for a full residential replacement. The furnace or air conditioner is extra.
What does it cost to add ductwork to a house that has none?
Much more than replacing existing ducts, because walls and ceilings in a finished house have to be opened. An Ontario HVAC contractor prints C$10,000 to C$20,000 for the ductwork alone in a typical Ontario home, before the air conditioner or heat pump, and C$15,000 to C$30,000 or more with a new central air system.
What does replacing the ducts in a 2,000 sq ft Toronto house cost?
The published tier for a 1,501 to 2,500 sq ft home is C$6,500 to C$10,000. Job Bank's Toronto renovation-trade wages add about 4%, so this calculator puts the low at about C$6,777 and the high at about C$10,426 before tax. Ontario's 13% HST takes the low to about C$7,658 and the high to about C$11,781.
Is there a government rebate for ductwork in Canada?
None found on 25 September 2026. The Canada Greener Homes Grant is closed. Ontario's Home Renovation Savings, BC Hydro's CleanBC heat pump rebates, Efficiency Manitoba and Hydro-Québec's LogisVert pay for heat pumps, insulation or air sealing, not ducts. The one duct-specific programme found, takeCHARGE in Newfoundland and Labrador, pays 50% of duct insulation material up to C$500 — not the ducts themselves.
How much does Aeroseal duct sealing cost in Ontario?
A Durham Region contractor prices the leakage test at C$1,050 plus HST and the sealing from C$1,450 plus HST, so from about C$2,500 before tax. A Toronto contractor prints C$2,399 plus HST for up to 16 supply vents. Larger homes cost more.
